Introducing our Oncology Section Treasurer, Rick W. Wilson, PT, PhD
PASSION
Passion? I don't think midwesterners of a certain age do passion a whole lot. And even if we did, we would probably be too embarrassed to talk about it.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science (Zoology), University of Maryland
Master of Science (Physical Therapy), The University of Alabama in Birmingham
Doctor of Philosophy (Education), University of Virginia
PROFESSIONAL
A Viet Nam era Army veteran, Dr. Wilson later served as a physical therapist during the Gulf War before retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1996. He became a founding faculty member of the physical therapy programs at Western Carolina University and the University of South Florida and is currently an associate professor and vice chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at the Medical College of Georgia. His research focuses on the role of physical activity and exercise in cancer control and prevention. The ultimate goal of this work is to use physical rehabilitation assessment and intervention techniques to improve quality of life experienced by cancer survivors.
